College Navigator

College Navigator for Biotechnology Magnet Academy
Filling the Gap Between High School and College

In recognition that many high school students who want to go to college, particularly those who are first-generation college bound, need assistance in researching and completing the requirements for college admission, financial aid, and scholarships. The College Navigator Program provides part-time counseling to guide students in determining which college to attend, achieving the ACT scores and grades required, and applying for scholarships. The project also includes an intense ACT preparation. There are also funds for students to apply to take ACT tests repeatedly, which has been determined as a major roadblock for these students, since many are eligible for the free/reduced lunch program and/or first-generation college bound.

This program is open only to students enrolled in the Biotechnology Magnet Academy at Southwood High School in Shreveport. For more information, please contact Ms. Margaret Benjamin, College Navigator Coordinator, biotechnavigator@gmail.com, TEL: 318.617.4833.
