Bossier Parish Biotechnology Training Program

Biotechnology Technical Training Program in Bossier Parish
Fostering a scientific workforce and technical skills

The Biomedical Research Foundation and the Bossier Parish Public Schools joined forces in 2007 to create the Biotechnology Technical Training Program.

The goals of the program are:

  • To provide an avenue for students to obtain valuable technical job skills in the locally growing biotechnology industry, with the potential for further education and training;
  • To increase opportunities to earn academic college credits to institutions of higher learning;
  • To sustain the training of biotechnology techniques to science teachers each year in order to meet the education needs of students.

The laboratories for the program were originally installed at Bossier High School, and later moved to Airline High School. The curriculum includes Biotechnology Survey, Biotechnology I, Solution Chemistry for Biotechnology, and Forensic Science.
